Because my new laptop (IBM Thinkpad T41) lacks a serial port, I acquired the FTDI FT232BM based adapter US232B, and also some FT232BM chips. I had various problems with the drivers on all three major systems: Win32, Linux and Mac OS X. Yeah. I heard this kind of stories. The least affected were usually Windows

The manual says US232B features - Data transfer rates from 300 baud to 460800 baud. The site I purchased my unit from was www.dontronics.com, an Australian site, I am in New Zealand. Found other sites including www.ftdichip.com themselves. There are drivers for Mac's OS8, OS9, and OS-X. Windoze 98/ME/2000/XP.

For me the uftdi driver works nicely under -current using 20 ukp serial adaptor I found: ucom0: FTDI US232B, rev 1.10/4.00, addr 2
